This Aggravates Me!

We purposefully chose the name Leighton for it's uniqueness.... Check out the latest list of 'Hot Names' (below). Argh I knew this was going to happen! Oh well, I guess I should take it as a compliment! Oh and just for the record, some of these names are heinous... Ursula, Lux, Martina?? Can Leighton even be categorized with such ridiculousness??

At the end of the day, all that matters is that she is still the most beautiful Leighton in the world!

With half of the year behind us, it's time to check in with our friends at BabyNameWizard.com for a baby name trend report. We know that Jacob and Isabella are the reigning king and queen of American baby names. But what's coming up next?

To answer that question, BabyNameWizard.com tracked the names that hundreds of thousands of name-searching parents looked for most. They've given us an exclusive peek at the hottest names of 2010 so far -- the names that rose the fastest from a year ago. The fast risers might not be common now, but we're likely to hear more from them in the years to come.

The #1 fastest rising girl's name is Tenley, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Kinley, Tinsley and Kinsley also made the top 20. Together, they point to a signature sound for the year's baby girls. Also keep an eye out for Everly, which placed two different spellings in the top 20.

For boys, the country's love affair with "-n" names is set to continue. More than half of the hottest rising boy's names end in that super-popular letter. Look for a fresh crop of surname names, too, especially luxurious ones like Sterling, St. John and Bentley.

The top 20 fastest rising boy's and girl's names are below. If you're afraid that your favorite names are rising too fast, check out the list of secret hit baby names that are more popular than they appear, and these appealing alternatives to the new hit names.

My Buddy Camden!

We are so thankful to be blessed with an amazing childcare arrangement for Leighton. We have a nanny who comes into our home during the week, while I work in my home office or out in the field. One of my initial concerns with a nanny was isolation/lack of socialization for Leighton, but our nanny Caitlin has a precious 8 month old baby boy Camden who comes with her each day. It is so amazing how well he and Leighton get along. She lights up every day when he comes over, and they're constantly 'playing' and just genuinely enjoying each other's company! it is so fun to watch:)

Here are some photos of them in action!

'My kind of town, Chicago is my kind of razzmatazz, and it has, all that jazz"-Frank Sinatra

Ahhh, love you Frankie! We took our first 'family' trip to Chi-Town! It was your very first plane ride, and you did well! You definitely disliked the landing, I am sure your ears were bothering you. We visited with Uncle Tim and Kelley, saw Navy Pier, spent time with Dan and Brandi, and mom got to go to a Cubs game while you and dad hungout at the restaurant outside Wrigley Field. Lollapalooza (huge music fest) was going on that weekend, and I tried to convince Daddy that we should go see Lady Gaga... he vetoed that one:( Oh well, we will save that for when you are older:)

You and Dad went exploring all day Monday while I was in work meetings. We had a blast. Here are some pics from our trip...

Interesting...

I ran across this article online, and found it very interesting, mainly because I can relate to this woman and I love her for writing this! I am happy being a working mom because I have a job I love, and am not forced to be away from you for extended periods of time. Nonetheless, I do feel guilt and wonder "Am I doing the right thing?". Society places judgement on everything, and women are unfortunately in a 'Damned if you do, damned if you don't" conundrum! I hope that changes by the time you are old enough to have a family. I want to set an example to you that you can have the best of both worlds... family and career. I do love my job, however I still want to be there for you and never short change you in any way. In the same breath, I know that my job will give you great opportunities and an amazing future, as well as socialization and independence. Of course I have those weepy days when I would love nothing more than to be with you all day and savor each of those small moments that fly by so quickly.... I know I am doing the right thing right now, although of course that could change down the road... Right now I cherish and enjoy every free moment I have with you, and I am a better mom as a working mom. I think that all of us, SAM moms and working moms struggle with these emotions everyday. I have had countless conversations with my girlfriends, both working and SAH, and we all face challenges and those guilty feelings from time to time. I hope that someday none of us ever have to feel any guilt for the decisions we make as women, and that we will all support each other for doing what is best for our families!
